Maintenance guide for CONCERTO windows

CONCERTO Windows require very little maintenance, but good care will prolong their lifespan.

For PVC surfaces

PVC is easy to clean. It requires neither paint nor special treatments to protect it from the elements.

However, to keep your windows looking their best for years to come, a few mistakes should be avoided :

  • Do not paint on PVC
  • Do not use abrasive products such as degreasing detergents, products containing chlorine, nail polish remover, furniture polish and cleaners, or detergents with organic solvents. This may scratch and damage the PVC.
  • Call in a specialist to repair your window to prevent further damage.

Restoring shine to unpainted PVC

To clean PVC window frames, use commercially available non-abrasive cleaners.

You may also prepare a homemade solution made from vinegar and hot water, or water and mild soap.

Here’s how to clean your window :

  1. Open the window and use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and dirt from grooves and sills.
  2. Spray a solution of half vinegar and half hot water over the entire PVC frame using a spray bottle.
  3. Wait five minutes.
  4. Wipe with a clean, damp cloth.
  5. Depending on the type of window, unblock the drainage holes if necessary.

PVC and aluminum – Hybrid windows

The hybrid window system combines the best of both worlds: the durability of aluminum with the proven energy efficiency and easy maintenance of PVC.

To clean the aluminum window frame, use lukewarm water and a non abrasive detergent. Do not use scouring pads.

You can now clean the glass!

For glass surfaces

Tools you need for effective window cleaning.
Proper cleaning starts with the right tools. Here are those recommended by the AVFQ guide for quality maintenance:

  • Window squeegee : The main tool for cleaning large glass surfaces. It removes water and cleaning
    products without leaving residues.
  • Microfiber cloths : ideal for wiping windows without leaving lint or marks.
  • Water pan and bucket : Used to hold cleaning solution and rinse your tools.
  • Non-abrasive sponge : Prevent scratching the glass surface while removing dirt.

Recommended products for window cleaning.

The AVFQ guide recommends using non-abrasive cleaning products for windows. Suitable options include:

  • Standard glass cleaners such as those listed in the guide (Windex®, SparkleGlass®, etc.):
  • Perfect for everyday use, offering fast, streak-free results.
  • Homemade solutions: Mix white vinegar and water to create a natural, cost-effective cleaner. This mixture is ideal for removing limescale and stains. Add 750 ml of warm water and 250 ml of white vinegar to a spray bottle.

Caution : Do not use products containing chlorine, fluorine salts, hydrofluoric acid, harsh solvents or abrasive substances, as these can damage both the glass and window frames.

Structural performance

When shutters are closed, always lock them with the appropriate catches. This helps ensure both the structural integrity and long-term performance of the product.

Mosquito screen cleaning

  • Remove screens from your doors and windows and place them on the floor or another flat surface. A helpful tip is to place a cloth underneath to avoid scratching the screen.
  • Prepare a cleaning solution by mixing warm water and soap (dish soap works well).
  • Spray or pour the solution onto the mesh. Be sure to soak it thoroughly and let the solution sit for a few minutes.
  • Rinse with a jet of water. This helps clean effectively thanks to the water pressure jet and the soap’s cleansing power.

Drying time may vary. We recommend letting the screen air dry or using a cloth to absorb excess moisture.

Window hardware

Clean only with a damp cloth or compressed air. Avoid using ammonia- or vinegar-based products on metal parts.

Apply a silicone-based lubricant once a year to locks, hinges and rubber parts to ensure smooth operation.

For sash window screens, lubricate springs using a dry silicone-based spray. Use a nozzle extension for better precision.

Winter window care

Take the following precautions during extreme cold:

  • Do not clean windows at very low temperatures.
  • Avoid spraying hot water directly onto the glass, as this may cause it to crack. It’s better to use lukewarm water.
  • To prevent the cleaning solution from freezing, add 50% antifreeze or use a cold-weather glass cleaner.
